DISCOVERY

magical wondrous nature, frog eggs

A year ago today we sold our loft.
Now after all these months of keeping it together
juggling the needs of our little family, this house building project,
living in furnished rentals all our stuff in storage,
with no real studio or alone time.

I feel as though I am about to emerge.

SETTLE DOWN

we are digging right in

I could have never imagined how easy this would be, although it was what people said. I thought my urban life was not too hard, if fact maybe even full of conveniences. Oh I was wrong, also something I was told. Here we are, 2+ weeks in, the longest I have ever been up here and at this point the honeymoon is over, we live in the country. We are rejoicing, it is grand.

SEEING FAMILIAR FACES

so grateful for a visit from our friends and old (as of one week) neighbors

To have them as guests and get to catchup after our first week apart felt like a gift, felt like a circle completed. They had cooked us meals, watched our girls and listened to us all with such care during our last few days in the city. Not to mention their support during the last year. So many sister friends!

AS IF FROM A DREAM

it has been nearly a week and I have just now looked at these images - nearly a week since we left

I thought for weeks about taking these images before our last night (or what we thought would be our last night, we underestimated how long we need the next day and had to sleep another night), somehow it felt so final to take them. These scenes, the almost playful way the ambient light of the city lay shadows over our walls and ceiling, these shapes were part of my nightlife. Photographing them felt like telling a secret, a bit of a relief.

LOSING TRACK OF TIME

we packed, we loaded the truck for days, we drove and we made it

And really we couldn't be happier, stressed but really relieved. When we were still in Providence we kept saying we just need to get out of here and then anything can happen. Now we are at the anything.
