A SEEMINGLY IMPOSSIBLE TASK

packing up my studio has begun

At first I was kidding myself, just moving piles around and maybe actually just organizing. It had been so hard to wrap my head around putting all of this in boxes and out of sight. When will I see it again, what ideas will be lost. I now understand how all of this "clutter" (our realtors word) was my way of trying to carry a thought, from one broken or interrupted moment to the next.

A studio practice that has changed so much over the years will just keep changing. There are a lot of ideas in here, I am hoping to get to them over time.

IT HAS BEEN SO LONG

we have been waiting all year, Happy Birthday Joel

He may not look forward to his birthday but we do. He makes this cake every year. This year it got debated a bit, with 2 little ones that can't handle much sweets and weather that has been keeping us inside it seemed a little daring. Our desire won out. Although we have tried many recipes, this is the one. And it will pair so well with the new season of House of Cards, oh our simple pleasures.

STAPLES

granola inspired by feeding the whole family by Cynthia Lair

With one foot out the door here it has been easy for me for to forget about all the old rhythm in my kitchen and all over our lives really. This missing flow to our days and weeks has caught up with me. As we have a lingering month and a half left here it feels like a really important time to re-ground ourselves. I am going to pull two old friends, off a not yet packed shelf, the creative family and the rhythm of family: discovering a sense of wonder through the seasons both by Amanda Blake Soule.

KIDS CLOTHES WEEK WRAP-UP

leopard harem pants - this pattern

I managed to get one more item made and did some thrifting for future sewing projects. My eyes were in fact bigger then my availability but there was a lot of healthily daydreaming in there. I guess I got really excited and forgot or was in denial that we are supposed to be packing up all our stuff.

Well Ona got a really cute pair of pants out of the deal and the best part is that she likes them. Sometimes it doesn't go that way around here. Oh and requests for more of these.

MOVING ALONG

a Saturday afternoon with our architect

We are really closing in on the final designs before construction begins. We have intentionally left a few items undecided so that we can see what it really feels like/looks like in process. Joel is beginning to see the true scope of his work, doing all the interior. He is so excited to get started!
